If you like Piña Coladas and getting caught in the rain
If you´re not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I´m the love that you´ve looked for, write to me, and escape
Summer makes me think of the coconut-y, pineapple-y taste of piña coladas. Fruit gets a bad rap these days with trying to abide by a low carb way of eating. Choosing your fruit carefully can help. Summer is a great time to pick and eat berries and berries are low in carbs and high in fiber. The perfect combination for a healthy treat.
Growing your own berries in containers, from organic seeds or organic plants, is the best way to ensure that the soil is clean of pesticide and herbicide run-off from surrounding lawns. You could go the easy route and purchase organic berries but the jury is still out on how clean they actually are, so eat at your own risk.
Personally, I choose to eat organic berries. Blueberries are my favorite. Berries are full of wonderful antioxidants and phytonutrients that our bodies crave and utilize to protect us from so many diseases and imbalances.
Today I’m sharing a recipe for a summer fruit tart. Feel free to pile it full of your favorite fruits, not just the ones I like. Download my summer fruit tart recipe HERE.
