This recipe is amazing! Noah and I will eat it as a meal and I’ve been known to make 6 at a time just so I don’t run out. With or without the accompanying sauce it is a great dish. If you have ever had a “Bloomin’ Onion” at Outback Steakhouse you will understand the draw. A beautiful display of a gigantic onion all spread out like a battered and fried exotic flower, and it’s about a gazillion calories (not that we are counting) This recipe is all the deliciousness minus the batter and frying. You have got to try it!
I know I talk a lot about antioxidants. It’s only because we live in such a toxic world that we need components to counterbalance our environment. So once again I am going to tout the benefits of two foods that are full of cancer-protective antioxidants…onions and paprika.
The Health Benefits of Onions
- Full of quercetin and vitamin C, these antioxidants protect against cancer-causing free radicals. And, of course, vitamin C is important for a healthy immune system.
- Biotin for blood sugar control and healthy hair, skin, and nails.
- Increases HDL production for healthier cholesterol levels.
- Anti-inflammatory properties that can help with joint pain and overall inflammation of the body.
- Helps lower blood pressure as a safe blood thinner thanks to its high sulfur content.
- High in fiber, it keeps the digestive system moving so toxins don’t sit in the gut and get reabsorbed.
- Helps maintain bone density in menopausal women.
The Health Benefits of Paprika
You are used to seeing paprika in the spice aisle but it is actually a vegetable with great health benefits.
- Full of Carotene, an antioxidant, sulfur, and enzymes. All of which protect against cancer.
- Vitamin C rich to help boost immunity.
- Contains healthy fat-soluble vitamins A, E, and K for increased immunity, antiviral properties, and overall health.
- Contains Lutein, an enzyme that helps prevent cataracts.
