3 Ways to Win a Free Visit with Dr. Francis or Massage Therapist, An’ Marie and Rock Your Physical Fitness!
It’s National Physical Fitness and Sports month. What a better way to celebrate this beloved holiday than to move our bodies and earn prizes. I want to introduce you to my three, favorite body moving activities that help prevent or recover from injuries and increase performance in other sports or just in life.
- This one you have probably heard of, walk 10,000 steps a day. It takes more time than effort but the benefits are too many to list them all here. When I first heard about this, it seemed overwhelming. One day someone showed me that big brother is always watching, my phone was probably already recording my steps, and I just wasn’t aware of it. Sure enough, I found a health app on my iPhone that came with the factory settings and I already had 5500 steps recorded for the day. From that day on, I have tried to make the goal of 10,000 steps a day. I now use an app called Stepz but there are many out there. Better circulation and emotional health, lower risk of heart disease, diabetes and hypertension, and better sleep are a few of the benefits. Come in showing you have walked your 10,000 steps for 7 days in a row and earn a free visit to our clinic with either An’ Marie or myself.
- This is my latest favorite, Foundation Training. FoundationTraining.com I have seen it help everyone from top athletes to grandmothers. It is an exercise program that focuses on core strengthening without sit-ups. This helps give you better strength, balance, and posture. It can help rehabilitate a “bad back” and can enhance athletic performance. I was introduced to this by physical therapists, Tracy Ryckaert in Rochester Hills and Lorrie Sherwood in Bloomfield Hills. They both hold classes throughout the week. You can find me in Lorrie’s class on Friday mornings. Try 3 classes and earn a free visit to our clinic with either An’ Marie or myself.
- Yoga has helped many people get back on their feet again but sometimes, even that is daunting. Beaumont’s School for Yoga Therapy can provide that one-on-one or small class setting to safely get you to your physical fitness goals. These therapists apply yoga techniques and practices to help those facing health challenges at any stage of their condition. I teach anatomy and physiology for this program and can assure you that these are some of the brightest and caring people I know.
